Brother Nature Foundation's Mission
To build a "Pu'uhonua" or a "Place of Refuge" for the youth of Hawaii having parent(s) or caregiver(s) that are incarcerated. To provide therapeutic peer group counseling and discussion sessions that address alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse preventatives; and participate in Ho'oponopono sessions (to Right the Wrong) that will prepare the youth to reconnect with their parent(s) or caregiver(s) which is a key role to reintegration back to their very communities resulting in healthy family relationships.
Objectives
1a 80% or more of the youth enrolled in the BNF's sponsored programs will exhibit measurable changes in their interaction through peer and family relationships, anti-social behaviors; alcohol, tobacco, or other drug abuse prevention, views about teenage sexual relationships and self image, wedlock and coping with, and making it work.
BNF's sponsored programs will equip and prepare the youth to reconnect with their parent(s) or caregiver(s) which will be a keyrole for reintegration processing resulting in healthy family relationships and creating a safe and nurtuting environment.
1b 80% or more youth enrolled with BNF's sponsored programs will demonstrate improved knowledge of alcohol, tobacco, or drug abuse prevention, family management skills, communication skills, family role modeling, high lighting the need for the youth involvement in community activities and prevention/ and intervention services upon the release of their parent(s) or caregiver(s) into society.
1c 80% or more youth enrolled in the BNF's sponsored programs will demonstrate cultural values, produce healthy family relationships and cultivate love for the 'aina or land on a "Pu'uhonua" or a 'safe haven' (asylum) benefits of these 1000+ year old concepts of Hawaii to their lives, families, and communities. The youth will demonstrate the daily use of Ho'oponopono or (make Right the Wrong) sessions empowering the youth to compel and incite their parent(s) or caregiver(s) to love and reintegrate back to society responsibly which will render any old justification or reasonongs obsolete and ineffective
